Are Dip Pens Easy To Use
Right now I am going to be going over are dip pens easy to use. The thing is there are a lot of things that go into learning calligraphy. One of them is learning how to use the pen.
(It is not all about the writing utensil)
Anyway, let us first talk about what is a dip pen?
A dip pen is commonly used for calligraphy. It consists of a nib and a holder, to hold the nib. It is a flexible utensil to be able to create thin and thick lines.
So after going through that are they easy to use?
Well, I don’t they would be the easiest since there are a lot of components like the ink you need to use, combinations of holders and nibs, etc.
You might say it is one of the hardest ways of doing modern calligraphy. But again if you practice you will surely be able to learn how to do this art form.
Just go through all of these step by step process and you will be on your way.
Another thing I need to mention is that it all just personal preference on what types of writing utensils that you would like to use for calligraphy.
So I may like to use a brush pen while others would like to use dip pens.
After reading through that let us move on too…
Are Brush Pens Easy To Use
Brush pens are one of my favorite pens to use for calligraphy so now let us talk about are these things easy to use.
The very first thing you need to understand is what are brush pens?
Brush pens are pens that have a flexible tip leading you to get thin and thick strokes by applying different pressures on the pen. It is called a brush pen because the tip is shaped and has qualities like a brush.
Now after reading that in my opinion brush pens are a just a bit easier than using dip pens. It is also something that I would recommend for beginners since they are more affordable.
If you are wanting to start learning how to do calligraphy with a brush pen check out my full in-depth tutorial all about it here.
Then again all of these utensils all have there different learning curves and preferences.
Calligraphy With Crayola Markers
Wait you can do calligraphy with Crayola markers. Yes, you totally can.
If you want check out my full in-depth going through the step by step process of lettering with a Crayola marker.
So is this supposed to be harder to do?
Nop, it is fairly simple and in my opinion easier than lettering with a regular brush pen. It is also of course way cheaper than all of the other calligraphy supplies we have talked about above.
The thing is you are going to have to learn a different way of using the utensil witch I talk about in my tutorial.
Calligraphy With Pencil
Wait, what you can do calligraphy with a pencil?
Check out my full tutorial all about this here.
Yeah, you can totally do calligraphy with a pencil. This is really great for people who don’t have access to any type of art supplies but just a regular pencil.
It has a basic concept of just more pressure you get a thicker stroke and less pressure you get lighter/thinner line. Leading for line variation witch is part of calligraphy.
Anyway, make sure to check out my full tutorial.
Let us move on…
Calligraphy With A Regular Pen
Ok, so you can do calligraphy with a regular pen. Specifically, I am talking about learning how to do faux calligraphy.
I have of course written a whole entire article about it here which took quite a while so I hope you get some good use out of the tutorial.
Any way faux calligraphy is considered you could say is fake calligraphy or a way to make something look like it is made from actual “calligraphy pens”.
If you think about faux calligraphy is the very base of lettering with many different writing utensils, surfaces, and objects.
Now onto your…
