One day you’re at an art store and you notice that there are these pens called Brush Pens. You wonder what are you supposed to do with those. What do you do with a brush pen?

This is the quick and short answer to your question:

Many people use brush pens in different ways. The biggest way people use these brush pens is for Lettering. (Lettering is a form of art using letters to create nice illustrations). Some people like to use them for watercolor or just to get thick and thin lines for their character illustrations.

Bullet Journaling With Brush Pens

I have seen many people bullet journals with their brush pens to just get an extra touch on your bullet journals and make them look “aesthetically pleasing”. 

When bullet journaling with your brush pens you also have to make sure that they aren’t bleeding through the paper. You also have to make sure that you use the correct type of paper for these brush pens

Brush Lettering I have found has been one of the best relaxing hobbies. Learning lettering can also help you learn how to use your brush pen correctly, which is something a lot of people struggle with.

So, of course, you could get a form of lettering with literally any supplies that you have at home (even pencils) you don’t just only need to use brush pens.

The first thing that I want to make clear is that I am going to be talking more about brush lettering/ modern calligraphy instead of the actual traditional calligraphy.

Let’s get started.

Right now I am going to give you the very fundamentals of lettering.

You are first going to need to know the basic strokes of calligraphy:

  • Upstroke
  • Downstroke
  • Overturn
  • Underturn
  • Ascending Loop
  • Descending Loop
  • Compound Curve
  • Oval

Why You Should Get Brush Pens

Maby you haven’t gotten these amazing brush pens. Right now I am going to doing a little review and tell you why you should get brush pens.

  1. First, brush pens are an all in one pen. You are able to get thin lines and thick lines. You just get so much variety. 
  1. They come in a variety of tips, sizes, colors, and etc. In brush pens the variety is endless. There are hard tip brush pens, soft tip brush pens, long brush pens, small brush pens, and so much more. 

This is great since you can choose the right brush pen that will fit your very own needs.

  1. You could choose a brush pen that will be great for beginners. You may be thinking that I can’t use a brush pen because I am a beginner and have no idea how to use them. 

Well, brush pens again come in a variety of ways so that you could choose your very own beginner brush pens.

  1. It can be used to look like you used different mediums. With many brush pens, they are great for watercolor and creating really nice light and pastel colors.
  1. These brush pens are also great if you are addicted to collecting stationary like I know all of you are. They are in my opinion, quite aesthetically pleasing.
